Chana and Yossef Cattan, who are in Israel celebrating the Bat Mitzvah of their granddaughter, Tali Ronit Pineles.

Zeze and Shalom Perez on their marriage this week. We are celebrating Shabbat Chatan this Shabbos. Mazel Tov to their Parents, Naomi and Yossef Perez and Mr. and Mrs. Breban, who have joined us this Shabbos. After Davening, Mr. and Mrs. Perez are sponsoring a kiddush in honor of Zeze and Shalom.

Graduation Kiddush
We would like to have a kiddush to honor all those in our Shul and our families, who are completing a course of study from Pre-K to Graduate School. The kiddush will take place, if it is adequately supported, on June 10th.

This Monday is Memorial Day, honoring all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation. I urge everyone to try to find a way to attend one of the many commemorative events in our area over this weekend.

Graduation Kiddush
We would like to have a kiddush to honor all those in our Shul and our families, who are completing a course of study from Pre-K to Graduate School. The kiddush will take place, if it is adequately supported, on June 10th. So far we only have $100 pledged towards the Kiddush; we need $800 to have the Kiddush.

Yom Iyun - Community Synagogue
There will be Yom Iyun for women and men at Community Synagogue on Sunday May 21, from 9:15 AM – 12 PM. Dr. Michelle Levine will be speaking on “The Nexus between Torah and Creation” and Elana Flaumenhaft will be speaking on “RX: Fall Seven Times and Then Get Up: A Comparison of the Kingships of Shaul and Dovid”. Light refreshments will be served. A donation can be made to Yad Sarah in lieu of admission fee.

Names. Not Numbers: A Movie in the Making
ASHAR invites the entire community on Sunday, May 21st at 7 PM, to a reception and screening of "Names, Not Numbers: A Movie in the Making" produced by members of the Class of 2017. As part of the yearlong Names, Not Numbers program, students researched, interviewed Holocaust survivors, filmed and edited their own documentary. There will be an evening of learning on Tuesday, May 16th at 8 PM at Ashar, 360 New Hempstead Road, New City, NY 10956, in celebration of Yom Yerushalayim. The guest speaker will be Dr. Jacob J. Schacter, whose topic will be “The Reunification of Yerushalayim Fifty Years Later:History, Theology and Liturgy”. There will be Mincha prior to the event at 7:40PM and Maariv to follow it.
